The Semi-Finals marked a significant turning point in the carnival competition, bringing together the strongest contenders from the Preliminary rounds as artists battled for their place in the final stages. The round featured 26 Groovy Soca artists, 31 Power Soca artists, and 21 Calypso artists, each taking the stage with the ultimate goal of advancing one step closer to the crown.
From the moment the performances began, the intensity was evident. On each designated night, artists arrived with a clear determination to win, delivering performances that reflected the preparation and drive that had carried them through the earlier stages of the competition. The energy from the stage was matched by an enormous crowd, creating an atmosphere that felt less like a semi-final and more like the finals themselves.
The diversity of music presented throughout the three nights was one of the highlights of the event. Across the genres, artists brought different sounds, compositions, lyrical approaches, and performance styles to the stage, demonstrating the continued evolution of Grenadian music. From the infectious rhythms of Soca to the melodic expressions of Groovy and the thought-provoking storytelling of Calypso, the competitions showcased the breadth of creativity within the local music industry.
The strength of the performances also made the judges’ task particularly challenging. With so many artists delivering compelling performances and bringing their own interpretation of music to the stage, selecting those who would advance was no easy feat. Each performance carried the weight of an artist’s hopes of reaching the final and ultimately claiming the crown.
