(St. George’s, Grenada) 19 July 2024 – The Spicemas Corporation (SMC) will commence judging the Calypso Tents on Friday, 19 July, continuing daily until Tuesday, 23 July 2024. These events promise to showcase the extraordinary talent and creativity of Grenada’s Calypsonians as they compete for glory in the 2024 Calypso Monarch competition.
This year, 60 calypsonians from 5 Calypso Tents are expected to take part, marking the preliminary round of competition. From these, 25 semifinalists will be selected to advance to the next stage each singing two songs, totaling 50 Calypsos in the spirit of the 50th Anniversary of Independence. The 10 Independence Calypso Monarch finalists, have been invited offered automatic ‘Bye’ to participate in the Calypso semifinal, once they agree to sing their Independence competition song as one of the two (2) songs to be performed at the Semi-final.
